Standard Chartered Bank announced, through its Linkedin account, a bank job (Country Finance Manager – HGB accounting) according to the following
- Analysis of monthly financial and HGB data and preparation of the month-end reporting
- Preparation of yearend HGB financial statement for purpose of statutory audit and sign-off by the Management Board
- Review new products and implement relevant HGB accounting
- Provide necessary data and support required to resolve/respond to queries from Regulator – will be a key point of contact for regulatory submissions and queries
- Understanding of IFRS and ability to perform accounting both under IFRS and HGB would be advantage
- Managing monthly books close process such as accrual and prepayment, salary booking and other accounting entries
- Preparation of monthly reconciliation of nostros, sundries and suspense, accruals & prepayments, payroll accounting, nostros etc
- Support the tax team with financial data input and monthly reconciliation of tax and VAT accounting
- Review of accounting entries passed by other finance and non-finance teams, especially with regards to revenues and cost, enabling identification, reporting and escalation of unusual items in a timely manner to ensure integrity of financial records and performance management
- Undertake all aspects of the monthly P&L / Balance Sheet Review activities in accordance with policy guidelines and as directed by the Head of Financial Control
- Continuous challenge of current procedures and contributions towards process improvements through identifying opportunities for efficiencies including implementation of new systems, elimination of non-value-added work, streamlining of functional procedures and task migrations
- Responsibility for GL controls/maintenance
- Interpretation and application of policies, especially in the Operational Risk area, taking ownership and responsibility for recurring tasks and reporting
- Bachelors or Master’s degree with at least 5 to 8 years’ experience in accounting under HGB relating to Banking products/industry. Knowledge of IFRS would be an advantage.
- Must be a fluent German speaker and be competent to communicate with the German regulators.

- Knowledge of and ability to utilize processes, methods, and tools for maintaining accurate and thorough records of financial transactions.
- Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
- Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to apply them appropriately within the organization.
- Understanding of German GAAP requirements
- German Language skill.
